Burning instructions are as follows: Hold the Palo Santo stick over an open flame, tilting it at a 45-degree angle. Once lit, let the wood burn visibly for one minute, relighting as necessary. Blow out the Palo Santo stick and allow it to smolder. Due to the resinous quality of the wood, the embers may self-extinguish after a few minutes, allowing the wooden incense to be relit and enjoyed multiple times.

Each Palo Santo stick measures approximately 4 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. The package may contain both hand-cut pieces and milled (square-cut) pieces. The hand-cut pieces provide a more natural look and feel to the incense, while the milled pieces utilize more of the wood to reduce waste. There is no difference in burning time or aroma between the two cutting methods.
