Applying eyeliner can be a tricky task, but with a few simple steps, you can achieve a straight, flawless line. First, stand about 6 inches away from a mirror and tilt your chin up, so that when you look down your nose, you can see your entire eyelid. Next, dab concealer or dust translucent powder on your upper lids, blending it well with a sponge or your fingertips to cover veins and prevent creasing.

Before applying the liner, determine your eye shape. If your eyes are close-set or round, line only the outer corners; otherwise, rim the entire upper lid. Soften the pencil tip by rolling it between your fingers, then gently pull your eyelid taut at an upward angle. Beginning at the inner corner, draw small, connected dashes along the top lashes, staying close to the roots to prevent any visible skin.

To make your eyes look bigger, extend the liner slightly beyond the outer corners.
